So today is the first day of our semestral break. Forgive me if I haven't written an entry for the past 2 months, I guess? It's just that college has been super busy and tiring, and it never even gave me a chance to sleep for more than 4 hours each day. And so now that I got a lot of spare time ahead, I did an entry to make up for it :bd

Since my last post, I have been studying and eating a lot. I barely slept, and now I am super nervous about my grades. So nervous that I have this fear of losing my good standing next semester because of Math. I promise to write an entry here again once I get my gwa :>

But now that fear is eating me up, I'm gonna spend my sembreak watching glee, new girl and PLL. 

I think this is the perfect time to say that I am absolutely loving college. I'm a mass comm student and I am enjoying every inch of it. So let me share with you guys the perks of being a mass communication student.

1.) Being super talkative (especially inside the campus) is perfectly normal. When you catch their attention, probably the first thing that will enter their mind is, "Baka masscomm to." (No offense to my fellow masscomm students out there).

2.) You're given opportunities to be a part of the industry, the mass media industry. There'll be times that you'll be invited to special events or classes in different TV networks (Well, if you're lucky enough :bd)

3.) The Jack of all Trades thing, it's true. You're always welcome in different professions. Be it law (I'm an aspiring lawyer, btw), newscasting, bank-related jobs, name it. You're the jack of all trades, master of mass media :bd

4.) You'll be given tips and insides on how almost everything works, be it books, films, tv shows, ads, magazines, everything. Because almost everything that's trending right now revolves on mass media, so no need to follow the trends because you are the trend.

5.) Interacting with people is not something to be shy about! Masscomm students are never socially awkward! You are the future press! And your target job will mainly be all about interaction. You'll get the chance to practice interacting with others and trust me, it's a lot of fun!

I noticed that I barely write an entry here so I decided to write about CMC's general assembly today.

So what happens on a regular GA? Each block is required to present any number, and we were given only two days to prepare. Our block decided to do a dance number, and luckily our presentation turned out great.

Not everyone in our block had the chance to dance in front of everyone, though. There were only 9 of us that honestly, weren't really professionals. Though we didn't win, there's always next year, and the next year, and the next year. If only there would be no re-blocking and I'd have my them as my blockmates for the next four years. 

About my 1 month long stay in college already, I can definitely say that it's been a blast. This is just my first month and I've already made a lot of friends, from other blocks, other courses, other years. The PLM community has been really nice to me (and everyone else, for that matter). And now, I'm definitely sure that this is where I belong ;) No regrets, and no hate that I didn't get into UP, DLSU, ADMU, or UST. Yes, college is amazing.

I feel really guilty about not having to write an entry for weeks. My father's day entry has been looking like a display here already so I decided to write something about the stuff that has been happening the past few days, just like I always do when I forget to blog for weeks.

Last June 12 was our country's Independence Day, and I got the chance to be a big part of it. As a CWTS student in PLM, we are required to participate in each and every holiday in the Philippines, specifically in Manila. So this is the first Philippine holiday I celebrated as a PLMayer. Me and my other schoolmates celebrated it at around 7 in the morning together with Mayor Alfredo Lim and Vice President Jejomar Binay.

So last June 19 has been our school's foundation day. The celebration was extended into three days (18th, 19th and 20th) which was really fun, it turned out really great tho I didn't get the chance to spend a lot of time with my friends since I've been really busy with the Junior Officer stuff I had to do, such as distributing the University shirts to students, helping take charge of the activities, assisting the different colleges in the parade, giving and selling out tickets to the booths, and a lot more stuff. But the good thing about this is I met and got the chance to interact with other PLMayers and got to bond with the other Junior Officers. Those 3 days will probably be one of the most memorable days in my college life because even though I didn't spend the most of it with my friends, being part of the Student Council still gave me the chance to make the most of it.

Last June 24 was Manila Day, and as expected, we celebrated it at the Bonifacio Shrine. There was a mass and also a wreath laying ceremony that was also led by the Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim. (No Photos)

And Yesterday, July 3rd, was my very first encounter of a class suspension in college. This may not be that much of a big deal, but to think that college students are barely thought of when it comes to class suspensions due to heavy rain, I was really surprised that our afternoon classes were cut. But unfortunately, the suspension also caused another cancellation of our class in IMC (Introduction to Mass Communication). This is something I was really worried about because other blocks are already ahead of us in other lessons. Luckily we will be having a make-up class this friday, 3-6PM :) 

So the most awaited day finally came. My first day of college. It wasn't really surprising how I didn't get enough sleep the night before, thinking about everything that might happen. So as expected, the day turned out great. I made a lot of friends, some of whom I already know on Facebook, and some whom I just met that day.

I made it to school at around 6:20AM, since my first class was scheduled at exactly 7PM. So I had to find our building first before settling, but unfortunately when I entered the building, the guards told me that the rooms wasn't to open until 7AM. So I just walked around the campus trying to get more familiar with the place. Luckily I encountered Dave, Lara and Jeanel. I just spent the next 30 minutes with them and finally entered the building.

I also got to meet some more of my blockmates and made small talk with them before our instructor came in. It was actually pretty funny how we're all so close already that we greeted and clapped at each person that entered the room. We also met our instructors in Filipino, English, History and Philosophy that day. While the instructors for Math, Science and Intro to Mass Communication introduced themselves on the second day.

PS. I'm really glad to have made that much friends already, and it's just the third day tomorrow. (Today's my free day so asdhadjafahd) and also really sorry if I didn't make a post about this on the exact day as the first day. Just, too lazy. =))

I went back to school (How weird is it that I use the term "school" now) yesterday for the scheduled orientation for the Junior Officer Applicants. I got there at around 12PM, which was pretty early since it was scheduled to be on 1PM. I was supposed to be around 30 minutes earlier, but the traffic was harsh (which is, by the way, a blessing in disguise because if it wasn't for the traffic, I would have waited longer than I did). I encountered one of my co-JO Applicants, Celine and Angela, in front of the Gusaling Lacson Building, so waiting wasn't really that bad since I had people to talk to. Too bad we're taking up different courses (Not that it's bad to have friends from a different college). So while waiting, we also encountered an incoming sophomore, she helped us adjust around the university and she also thought us the different terms used in the school such us "GC" which stands for Grade-Conscious. 

So at around 1:20 (Yes, filipino time), the student council officers gathered all the JO Applicants and luckily I made more friends like Berna, Melody, Jeanel, and more. I also bumped into two of my friends from Concordia which was cool since I barely see Concordians around PLM. 

When the orientation started, we introduced ourselves one by one and they told us what to expect of the screening that will occur in the following days. The SSC Officers also discussed the different projects that are being planned for the year, and more specifically the projects that will be expected in the coming Foundation Day which will be on the 18th up to the 21st of June. The most exciting part though was the interview part with Kuya Florante, the president of the university's supreme student council. He asked me questions such as, why did I choose Mass Communication, what can I contribute to the Student Council if ever I get accepted as Junior Officer, and the like. 

I tried to answer as smart and as good as I can. I really wanted to be a part of this. Not just for the experience, but also to increase my leadership skills and my interaction skills, which is what I really need as of now considering that I'm a Mass Communication Student. So pretty please with cherry on top. Pray for me guys! I'd really appreciate it. Thanksss!

PSII: Sorry for not making a post about the first orientation. Lol. The second one was more productive, tho. All I did in the first one was sleep. 'Twas boring. No offense.

I enrolled yesterday and got my class cards, my schedule, library card, and I also paid for my uniform already. One more month ‘til a new world starts. A new road to walk on. A new spotlight to make or mark on. A new obstacle to face. This thing people refer to as college. I don’t know if I’m excited or nervous. Excited because I’m taking up a course that suites my interests perfectly, and I’m taking it up at one of my dream schools. But nervous because it’s not high school anymore. It’s a completely new and different field. There are going to be new places and new people to adjust to.

A lot of my Concordian batch mates are also going to the same university as I am. One will even take up the same course as mine. I also had an encounter with one of them during the enrollment process yesterday. It’s really cool to know that a lot of your friends back in high school are going to be in the same shoes as yours. Only in a different design, but all in a same quality and size. It’s good to know that I can still walk by them along the campus or even share classes with one of them. College should be exciting.

I’m done reading the Hunger Games. It feels sad that the story’s over now. And I get that sad feeling while watching the movies when you already know what will happen. I also feel sad because two of my favorite characters in the story died, Finnick and Prim.

Next saturday we’re going back to Cavite to attend a family friend’s wedding. So then after the wedding I’m planning on hanging out with my friends from AUP since it’s been years since I’ve seen them. It’d be really nice to bond with them again.

Then on May 2 to 4 we’re gonna be at Boracay. But honestly I’m a lot more excited about the first day of school. It’s really awesome to think about college, how I’ll be a more independent person and how I’ll be more challenged with the pressure that comes with it. But I think the pressure wont be as hard to handle as it is on high school since I’m pretty sure that I’ll be enjoying what I’m gonna be doing for the next four years :D

But still there’s the enrollment process, social interactions and getting to know the place. But I think everything will be pretty much exciting and fun, the pressure aside. I’m sure that my other batch mates are as thrilled about college too as I am. But still, we'll never know.

I’ve been spending summer here in Manila since it started. Unless you count my visit in Binan, Laguna for a quick swim in Splash Island, which is definitely not fun for me since my period came in the middle of the day so I just stayed in our table the entire time.

I was at PLM again with my mom yesterday to submit some requirements and they made me answer this survey-like form. I thought it was pretty cool that I’m almost done with my enrollment. But it still surprises me though, that I’m done with high school and proceeding to college already.

So summer’s been really boring lately, since I got to spend most of my time just staying at home. It’s really boring especially when you think about the fact that this is my last summer before college and I was really expecting it to be an enjoyable one. Well, it will be enjoyable, though. By the end of april I’ll pretty much be occupied since we’ll be going to Cavite again to attend a wedding. Then by may we’ll be at Bora.

Speaking of being watched worldwide, my addiction to the Hunger Games trilogy still hasn’t stopped. I’m on the middle of Mocking Jay, which is sad for me. Since it’s almost ending. Oh well, I still have the movies to look forward to :) 

Summer’s been going well for me since our graduation. My grades got a lot higher than usual, I got a phone upgrade, I got the Hunger Games trilogy as one of my graduation gifts. I’ve been reading the books for a week now and it actually surprises me how fast I finished reading the first book, unlike Harry Potter in where it took me weeks or so. Now I’m in the middle of Catching Fire.

I also had a new phone upgrade, although I still haven’t had the chance to get used to it. But it seems that this phone and I are going to get well together in a week or less.

Oh, and just to inform you guys. I’ve been banned from blogging. But since I can’t put up with that, I guess I’ll just be a lot more careful with stuff I say whenever I blog. Or like, keep the super personal details to myself since this blog is being publicly seen by anyone, anyway. So I think it’s also better if we don’t get too personal with the blogging.
